Aftab has represented hundreds of clients at various courts and tribunals, including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the License Appeals Tribunal, the Social Benefits Tribunal, and the Social Security Tribunal.
Aftab's practice largely focuses on long-term disability, car accidents, and slip/trip and falls. Through helping his clients in such matters, Aftab has also built a wealth of experience in employment law, particularly wrongful dismissals, and immigration matters.
Aftab graduated with honors (cum laude) from the University of Ottawa Law School in 2012. Prior to this, he completed a Master of Science degree in Molecular Genetics from the University of Toronto, by successfully defending his research based thesis titled “Protein-Protein Interactions Between Two Key Regulators of One-Carbon Metabolism in Saccharomyces cerevisiae”.
Aftab started his law career at a big bay-street law firm, where he helped multinational corporations in complex and transnational legal matters, including intellectual property. It was during this time that Aftab developed a sharp acumen in handling complex legal matters. Though Aftab enjoyed the challenging nature of Big Law, he longed to help individuals. Aftab left the security and prestige of a big bay street firm to help every-day people with their legal problems.
A litigator at heart, Aftab takes pride in having intimate knowledge of his clients' cases and tailoring his legal approach to suit his clients' needs. He makes himself available and enjoys establishing strong, trusting relationships with his clients.
Aftab is fluent Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi.
Outside of work, Aftab enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, cottaging, giving back to the community through charity work, and playing softball.
